AVO Designing a Smart Future
At AVO the pursuit of excellence never stops. Our history is deeply rooted in the quality and reliability of polyurethane, a key material for demanding sectors such as logistics, intralogistics (AGVs), and elevator technology. Yet our vision is always forward-looking: we are working to integrate the most advanced technologies to create products and processes that are not only high-performing but also intelligent and interconnected.
Reliability is our hallmark. Given the strict safety standards and regulations that require components to have exceptional durability—often being replaced by protocol long before the end of their actual service life—the selection of high-performance materials is crucial. Below are the strategic directions shaping our transformation.
The Factory of the Future: AI and Automation
Our polyurethane production processes are already highly advanced, defined by automation, modernity, and efficiency. However, the next step for us is full integration with Artificial Intelligence (AI). The goal is not merely to optimize individual machines, but to transform the entire plant into a smart ecosystem.
AI will make our operations even more efficient and adaptive—anticipating production variations, regulating parameters in real time, and ensuring that every stage of the process is seamlessly interconnected.
We are currently focusing on internal material handling between production stages, having already automated key operations such as sandblasting and bonding, which conclude on dedicated trolleys. The next step is to employ AGVs to transport these trolleys to the following workstations. In this scenario, AI would act as the “conductor”, intelligently managing and optimizing interactions and movements between processes. The standardized positioning of products on trolleys will make them ideal for robotic handling, enabling a true model of intelligent automation across production stages.
Smart Wheels and Predictive Maintenance
Innovation will also extend to our products. The future is moving towards the “intelligent wheel” for intralogistics vehicles—capable of interfacing with AI to autonomously manage its own maintenance and wear analysis. Through this integration, maintenance will become predictive: the wheel itself will indicate, based on real usage data analyzed by AI, when an intervention is needed. This will minimize downtime and maximize operational efficiency for all our customers.
IoT in Polyurethane
IoT technology—already widespread in road vehicle tyres—will soon extend to all internal handling equipment. This will allow us, and our clients, to monitor the real-time condition and performance of polyurethane components in the field. The data collected by these sensors will feed Artificial Intelligence, creating a virtuous cycle that will continuously refine both AVO’s material quality and our production processes.
At AVO, we are convinced that the combination of our materials expertise with the frontiers of AI and IoT is the key to delivering solutions that are increasingly safe, high-performing, and ready for the challenges of tomorrow.

AVO – Aldo Valsecchi: Mobility that doesn’t fear the Cold
In the food industry, efficient handling is as essential as compliance with hygiene regulations. Choosing the right wheels for equipment, machinery, and production lines can make a real difference in safety, cleanliness, and durability.
With its long-standing expertise in wheel and caster production, AVO Aldo Valsecchi is the ideal partner for companies in this sector, offering solutions specifically designed for every need – with guaranteed quality and reliability over time.
AVO uses only materials selected for their resistance to cold, moisture, and corrosion: special polyurethanes that stay elastic even at very low temperatures and are easy to clean; stainless steel AISI 304 and AISI 316 for supports and metal parts, ensuring hygiene and long-lasting performance.
Product design is optimized to minimize dirt traps and make cleaning operations easier, lowering maintenance and replacement costs: smooth surfaces and compact shapes are key features.
Our 5 tips for choosing your ideal wheel
- Choose materials that maintain their mechanical properties, elasticity, and smooth rolling even at sub-zero temperatures, avoiding breakage, stiffening, or deformation that could compromise handling.
- To withstand frequent sanitization – even with aggressive detergents – opt for AVO’s Polyurethane and Polyamide 6 wheels, plus AISI 304 or 316 stainless steel supports, resistant to corrosion and moisture.
- Avoid contamination risks by using wheels with plain bore hubs or stainless steel bearings, which require no maintenance and release no unwanted substances.
- Reduce operator effort by choosing high-rollability wheels such as Thermoplastic Polyurethane, including the soft Polyurethane version, or elastic, non-marking rubber wheels – silent-running, impact-resistant, and low-friction.
- Always check the load capacity required, factoring in potential impacts, uneven floors, or sudden acceleration. We recommend choosing wheels with a higher safety load than the static requirement, to ensure durability and stability under dynamic conditions.
