Environmental factors

When selecting a Wheel or castor, mechanical performance is only one part of the evaluation criteria. The environmental conditions in which the product will be used can significantly influence the service life, safety, and overall reliability of the handling system. AVO offers targeted solutions that take into account four key aspects: corrosion resistance, thermal resistance, electrical conductivity, and chemical resistance.

Corrosion resistance

In the presence of humidity, water, or corrosive substances, it is essential that Wheels and castors retain their properties without deterioration. Brackets made of stainless steel AISI 304 and AISI 316 are the ideal solution for marine environments, food processing plants, and hygiene-sensitive areas where rust protection is essential. Wheels with polyamide bodies and Polyurethane AVOWATER treads also provide excellent performance against oxidation and moisture, making them particularly suitable for greenhouses, shipyards, or environments exposed to frequent washdowns.

Thermal resistance

Temperature variations can compromise the functionality of materials, especially when the limits of standard compounds are exceeded. For applications in ovens or high-temperature environments, grey cast iron Wheels with pearlitic structure maintain their strength even under extreme conditions. Special heat-resistant rubber versions ensure elasticity and ride comfort above 100 °C. At the same time, AVO Polyurethane treads deliver excellent performance even at low temperatures, making them suitable for cold storage and refrigerated logistics.

Electrical conductivity

In many sectors, such as electronics or chemical industries, it is essential to prevent the accumulation of electrostatic charges. AVO has developed AVOANTISTATIC Polyurethane, capable of effectively dissipating charges thanks to controlled electrical resistance (R ≤ 50 MΩ). This feature not only protects sensitive equipment and components but also enhances overall operator and plant safety.

Chemical resistance

Many industrial environments expose Wheels to oils, greases, solvents, or aggressive agents that can damage conventional materials. For these applications, AVO offers dedicated lines such as AVOPRENE and AVOTOP, designed to withstand hydrolysis, vegetable and mineral oils, solvents, and diluted alkalis. Thanks to their advanced formulation, these Polyurethanes maintain their integrity even under heavy-duty conditions and intensive use cycles. Likewise, materials such as polypropylene and glass-fibre reinforced polyamide 6 stand out for their chemical stability, making them ideal in environments where chlorinated solvents or corrosive substances are present.
