Fitting systems for Wheels and castors

Wheels can be mounted using different systems: top plate for flat surfaces with standardized hole patterns, central hole for quick and compact installations, plain or threaded stem for light-duty or heavy-duty trolleys, and expanding stem for tubular structures. Each solution ensures stability, safety, and ease of assembly.

Top plate

The Wheel with castor bracket is mounted on a flat surface using bolts and nuts, with standardized hole spacing.
Plate fittings are available for both swivel and fixed castors.

For Wheels with directional lock, the plate must be mounted with the shorter side aligned in the direction of travel.

To correctly select a top plate fitting, the following dimensions must be considered:

  • Outer plate size
  • Hole spacing
  • Hole diameter

Bolt hole fitting

The bolt hole fitting consists of a central hole in the top plate of the castor bracket, into which a bolt, pin, or screw is inserted for direct mounting on structures or equipment. This solution is particularly suitable where installation space is limited or quick Wheel replacement is required.

The bolt hole fitting is available for both swivel and fixed castors and is commonly used in light-duty trolleys, manual handling equipment, and institutional applications. The stability of the assembly depends on the correct choice of hole diameter and fixing hardware, which must match the support structure and the required load capacity.

Plain stem fitting

The plain stem fitting uses a smooth stem integrated into the top of the castor bracket, which is inserted directly into the frame or equipment and fixed by additional elements (e.g. circlips or fastening devices). This solution is space-saving and suitable for lightweight trolleys or mobile equipment requiring quick assembly.

Threaded stem fitting

The threaded stem fitting features an externally threaded stem integrated into the top of the castor bracket, which is screwed directly into the frame or equipment. This type ensures a secure and stable connection, particularly recommended for applications requiring higher strength and heavier loads. Threaded stem fittings are available for both swivel and fixed castors and allow compact mounting even in confined spaces.

Expanding stem fitting

The expanding stem fitting uses a cylindrical stem with a rubber expansion sleeve inserted into the frame or tube. Tightening the central bolt expands the sleeve against the inner walls of the housing, ensuring a secure and stable connection without additional machining.
This type of fitting is particularly suitable for tubular structures, lightweight trolleys, and mobile equipment, as it allows quick assembly, frequent removal, and at the same time provides good mechanical strength and effective vibration absorption.
